Ernest J. George & Company
Ernest J. George & Company was established in 1926, to provide a professional stocktaking service to the pharmacy profession. Throughout our history we have provided a friendly, honest and above all, accurate service, not only to pharmacies, but also hospitals, doctors surgeries and veterinary practices.
We have many established clients who have been with us for more than twenty years, as well as many newer ones, who have employed our services following recommendations from our existing clients.
We also act, as Business Transfer Agents to the pharmacy profession and our reputation in this field is second to none. Whether you wish to acquire new pharmacies or dispose of any which have become superfluous to requirements, we have the knowledge and experience to ensure that all your requirements are satisfied.
Ernest J. George & Company provides a highly professional service and prides itself on a long-established reputation for this. We endeavour to liaise with all our clients to ensure that the service offered meets their individual requirements.
We have a wealth of knowledge in many aspects of the healthcare business, including politics, etiquette and familiarity with stock lines. We also recognise the importance of managing the contract with the flexibility that is necessary.
We cover the whole of the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Lewis and the Channel Islands. The majority of our client base comprises of independent community pharmacies.
These factors, we believe, place us ahead of our competitors in that they enable us to provide a reliable service, with accurate results, at a cost effective price.
Are you thinking of retirement or a change of direction in your business life? Our Business sales department, headed by director, Geoff Noden, can help you with all your requirements, from the initial valuation of your business, its marketing, negotiations with prospective purchasers right through to completion. We can recommend pharmacy specialist solicitors, who can advise and guide you through the legal process involved in achieving a satisfactory conclusion to your transaction. Should you require funding, to finance an acquisition, we have contacts, employed by reputable financial institutions which have funds available to invest in pharmacy businesses.
There are many things to be considered when valuing a pharmacy business, such as the location of the business and its proximity to the doctors’ surgeries, the services it provides and also, any competition from other pharmacies in the area. Market values fluctuate and purchasers react to current lending criteria or change in government funding issues. We deal with many potential purchasers and know who is active in a particular area at that time. It is our experience and knowledge that achieves the best price and just as importantly, the best service possible. Another thing to consider are the business premises, whether they are freehold or leasehold and the terms of any existing lease.
You may have decided not to use an experienced agent, preferring to negotiate your own sale. If you have been made an offer directly from a potential purchaser, a valuation report prepared by Ernest J. George & Company, will confirm or refute whether the offer received is a fair reflection of the prevailing market price at the time.
You may not actually be wishing to sell, but still need a current goodwill valuation for various reasons, such as your changing from a sole trader to a limited company or you are looking to relocate or extend your premises. Your lender will require an up to date valuation of your business. Once we receive all the relevant information, we will produce a goodwill report and valuation for your business. You may also wish to consider the terms of any business loans that you may have, as we can offer advice and help, which could save your business money.
We have a number of potential purchasers on our database already but, should you wish to be added to this, please email or telephone us, with the geographical location and the level of turnover required, when seeking to acquire a business.

Stocktaking
Pharmacy stocktaking is the business sector in which our company originally started trading. We therefore have a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of the pharmacy business, including pharmacy politics and etiquette, familiarity with stock lines, prescription management and cut-off procedures specific to pharmacy.
We can offer manual stocktakes, where the stock is counted and valued by category. Our Certificate of Valuation details stock values for each category, together with the values of any adjustments made in respect of sales and purchases.
If you require a line by line listing Stock count then we can now offer this service with a valuation report and stock listing for all dispensary stock to help you identify any areas of your stockholding that you may want to check in more detail.

All results can be submitted in both hard copy and electronic format.
